Everwondered if a VLE isn’t the answer?

I’ve had a sneaking suspicion that they were out of date before they’d even started and certainly not motivating for me as a primary teacher. I couldn’t believe it - here was a learning platform with no learning content. To some extent that has changed with the advent of some nice video and one or two excellent resources made available. But there’s no real increase in Primary focussed content other than what you can find on the net already. Fine you could store, assess, vote etc but you then had to make up the content.

Seemed there was something missing in the VLE?

Well what do I know, I’m just a teacher.

I found an interesting series of posts that puts these thoughts into a more academic perspective.

Particularly the one, third from  bottom of the page.

(There are 10 posts on this archive page and presumably more will be added!)

The answer  seems to be there is a continuum at work here and, as teachers, we need to be allowed to be flexible in our approach to these technologies.
