There are a number of web based services that allow you to personalise your desktop.
igoogle, Page Flakes, Yahoo desktop and NetVibes.
This shows a small part of a desktop with two live RSS Feeds. You can add Flicker, Google, any number of feeds, Favourite Websites etc. It’s limitless and with multiple pages that are self categorisable.
